HREIB’s approach draws on over 10 years of institutional experience. All of our educational initiatives are informal and learner-centered. Our methodology reflects our core values and includes:
Individual Empowerment
Our trainers and facilitators draw on participants’ personal experiences to achieve transformative learning at the individual level.
Popular Communication
Our activities incorporate popular communication methods including drama games, video production, community journalism and interactive discussion forums.
Targeting Women as Grassroots Change-makers
We recognize the strategic and important place of women in local communities as organizers, educators and community leaders; we therefore prioritize women and endeavour to achieve gender balance in training programs.
Alternative Education Methodologies
We use multimedia resources to reach out to people with low literacy levels and use creative approaches that engage all participants.
Community Participation in Advocacy
We locate communities at the center of our human rights advocacy and develop localized mechanisms to ensure community participation is achieved by adopting a people centred and coalition approach.
